No Medea without Jason. As a counterpart to the eight-part Medea frieze as a drawing, an eight-part ‘Jason sculpture’ has been being created since summer 2023 in Pfullinger marble, which is actually Styrofoam.
Composed into a block size of 440x220x125cm, the allegorical representation of the exhausted and egocentric man is sculpted in one piece, so that after completion it can be placed or laid in any arrangement in accordance with the Medea drawing, in eight fragments, each 110cm high.
References to the Laocoon group, to Michelangelo’s David and Max Klinger’s Beethoven sculpture are not purely coincidental.
